Monday Meh: Now where was I?

Head of a Woman,  Albrecht Durer (via Wikipaintings)

Matters at home have been demanding my time and energy these past few weeks, and then of course, that muse of mine stubbornly remains on vacation. I have, however, managed to initiate a job search but don't expect a response from my first query. Unless, that is, my prospective employers can overlook the fact that I managed to misspell their name in my cover letter......

Sometimes I am my own worst enemeh.

UPDATE:  I got a e-mail inviting me to interview for the position! Stay tuned...

  1. She's alive! I'm glad.

Actually I was thinking about emailing you to see how you are doing. I hope things are going the way you want (excepting of course misspellings...yikes) and that you're well and hearty :-)

BTW, I once got in a hurry with a cover letter and did not double check...consequently misspelling experience. I spelled it, expereince. This was pre-history in the days before spell check.

I did get an interview, but the first thing she said to me was, "I'm pretty sure it's i before e, except after c, pointing to the underlined word. I couldn't find a convenient hole to crawl into. Very embarrassing. I didn't get the job.

  2. Denise you didn't misspell their name you were telling them that you think outside the box and the "misspelling" will actually draw more eye attention and curiosity about their product or services. hahahahah it's pure bullshit but "mehbe" it's good bullshit you can use when the call you in for the interview.

  4. I have avoided such errors by not writing a resumeh in many years. Of course, not writing any is likely the biggest error...

Good luck on the hunt, Intell.
Send a second, edited cover copy to the first prospect, but include chocolate :-)

  5. Don't you hate it when you see the error the instant you click the "send" button? Good luck with the search, I'm having no luck at all.
