When the weather outside is frightful

You can order your own copy HERE.
When the wind howls and the snow blows and there's nothing to do besides all the housework that I've let slide for the past 4 months while working full time and being a grad student part time -- that's when I like to sit down with a mug of tea, a plate of cookies, and a good book. Blogging buddy Murr has gone and put a bunch of her most excellent essays in convenient book form, and I highly recommend it. Even though I have been a reader of Murrmurrs for a year or so, I have apparently incinerated enough brain cells to impair my short-term memory (see reference to hot flashes in previous post), and so it's like reading all this material fresh. And as Murr helpfully points out, I don't really want to take my computer to the loo with me.

Hopefully the memory loss is a temporary phenomenon, but my copy of Trousering Your Weasel is for keeps.

Unless the dog gets ahold of it.

(PS - Don't forget the cookies. You'll laugh 'em off, I promise!)

  1. Love the photo!

My apologies to Murr Brewster, but when the weather outside is frightful, the toddy inside is delightful...especially with cookies.

Even though I am a frequent troll at Murr's place, I had forgotten about the book publishing. Trotting on down to B & N this afternoon to find it. Thanks for reminding me.

BTW, the dangers of taking one's computer to the loo is the whole reason tablets were invented...despite Apple's public denials of that fact.

  2. Thanks - I couldn't eliminate the glare from the book cover, or the pic would be better I suppose. Hope you like the book. I didn't know you read.

    1. Who said anything about reading? I bond with the covers.

    2. Is that why the pages stick together?

    3. Only on clammy nights.

BTW, I had to order her book from Amazon...B & N didn't have it.

  3. The weather here has calmed down since the unpleasantness of Thursday and Saturday. No cookies here, but I have a small red velvet cake and a couple of humongous cinanamon rolls.
I rarely read books any more yet just finished a loaned copy of Tom Robbins/Half Asleep in Frog Pajamas. Tyler gave me a copy of Neil Young/Waging Heavy Peace for Christmas so I'll be working on that one over New Years.

Speaking of which... Happy New Year, Intell!

    1. Stop bragging about your buns, Doug.

What do you think of "Frog Pajamas?" It wasn't my favorite of Robbins' books -- nothing beats the earlier ones, imho.

Happy New Year to you, too -- hope it's a good one!!

    2. I have only read one other Robbins book, Still Life With Woodpecker. It was long ago but I enjoyed it. I thought Frog Pajamas was a fun read, too.

  4. Since I don't read anything anymore that is very long I probably won't rush or even remember to rush out and buy this book. However, my memory fluctuations will not cause me to miss wishing you Mz Wench to have many laughs while ringing in the new year!

    1. Thanks for the wishes, Jeffrey. You SHOULD at least read Murrmurrs, her blog (linked to above) -- she's funny, and she lives in Portland, too!

      Happy 2013 to you!
