It's the last Monday Meh for 2015, and I'm still wondering where winter is. Artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo personified winter in this 16th century painting -- which could benefit from a dusting of snow, methinks.

Winter has appeared....on my doorstep! BTW, judging from other examples of his work, it could be said that Giuseppe was the precursor of contemporary Edible Art...centuries ahead of his time. OK, I concede...one wouldn't want to actually eat his...
ReplyDeleteScooter Pie says, anything is edible if you try hard enough.
DeleteHappy winter?
Scooter Pie...with age comes hunger?
DeleteWinter here this year, has been more like April..not complaining, mind you.
Scooter Pie can be said to have the appetite of a dog half her age and twice her size, yes. She gets 4 meals and snacks a day -- don't know where she puts it all, though. Well, nevermind - I do.
DeleteOther than one day mid-month, we have had daily highs mostly in the 60s here, which is not normal for this part of the state. Tonight, though, the temps are supposed to drop and stay dropped for a while...I shouldn't complain, but I will anyway.
It is not necessarily winter paintings; but one of my favorite artist is Eustace Paul Zigler who painted Alaska and the far north. If you have access to library loans check out Spirit of the North by Kesler E. Woodward: a great collection.

Thanks for the suggestion, OB -- I'll see if the University has it in their holdings.
DeleteNO snow in the Canadian Far East (Newfoundland) so far either. Very strange. We are all waiting for the apocalypse.
ReplyDeleteOntario is getting a nice hit, tho.
Hope you get a dusting at least. Methinks you deserve a little white frosting beauty.
Well, I made intellikid a birthday cake with white frosting -- that counts, right?
DeleteMeanwhile, it's been nice not running the heat and I don't miss winter dry skin!
