My issue is that I just ... can't ... handle ... the Donald's ... voice. It provokes such nausea and disgust in me, seriously, that I don't know how I will make it through the coming months.
Luckily, my new job is housed in the same building as Counseling for Faculty and Staff, so I can relatively easily get the help I need. I suppose part of the problem, though, is that I don't want to accept hearing his voice as a normal part of my existence.
How are you all coping?
Not very well at all. I just hope he's impeached during his first term in office. (I always press mute when he's attempting to speak...)
ReplyDeleteDylan--in the right wing publication called The Hill (federalist leaning) they put out an article called "Elect and Impeach."
DeleteThe writer, well before the vote expounded on this mechanism as a way to have Pence in the Oval Office. The tactic of voting for Trump and impeaching him as soon as a writ of crimes became available sounded to me like they were actually calling for a coup de etat by the House and Senate.
Personally I am not quite ready for that 3rd world installation of a dictator.
Now I'm very afraid. Very, very afraid...
DeleteI raise my hand twice...three...half a dozen times. I H.A.T.E. his voice! I can't get through more than a minute...maybe two of listening to him. And those FUCKING GESTURES (as you know, I posted about those). So no, I am not doing well at all even before we get to the subject of how evil he is.
ReplyDeleteAND...and...ANDDDDDDDD...I am not going to spend money on a therapist trying to calm my self. FUCK IT! Am I being unreasonable...rigid...engaged in self-flagellation? YUP.
Four freaking years of that nasal voice through that anal shaped mouth and those FUCKING GESTURES...i may be blithering long before the end. Just sayin'
Bwahahaha it is his face and lips when they move that freak me out. Especially when the camera goes in close. *shudder*
ReplyDeleteI think the only way to cope for me is to continue to sort the bullshit from the facts and gain insight about the reality as it grows.
Plus he's orange! Halloween is many days behind us.
DeleteP.S. I'd love to hear some insight about the reality as it grows?
I'm sort of politically naive, but I know when something feels very, very wrong.
And this entire election has seemed like a major farce to me.
Is it getting any easier for anyone? I resent being told, even by people I trust, to get over it -- there is no way in hell I can accept this as the new "normal." And nobody in their right mind should. So...the only thing to do is to fight it however we feel we can, whether by writing, by reaching out to others (fortunately I personally have witnessed several random acts of kindness and not the sorts of random acts of hatred that have popped up), and just speaking up when someone spreads untruths or hatred. Rolling over and waiting for the next election in 2 or 4 years isn't productive. We have to do -- or try to do -- the hard work of being exemplary human beings.
