In spite of the state's other shortcomings, California is providing us with some mighty tasty strawberries this year.
Strawberry Alarm Clock are also from California. And until recently, still touring, apparently. My LP collection includes their album "Incense and Peppermints."
Peppermint is one of the most widely used and useful herbs. It has wondrous medicinal properties, tastes wonderful all on its own, but I believe peppermint was put on the planet to be paired with chocolate:

I think I need strawberries. Yes.
ReplyDeletePeppermint, not so much, but it is indeed tasty with chocolate. Never tried it with incense.
Strawberries go nicely with chocolate, too, Doug! But if they're really ripe & sweet, they're just as good naked.
ReplyDeleteThe strawberries, I mean.
Of course that's what you meant ;-)
ReplyDeleteHoly Moley...two things. One, I have missed a whole lot over here. Need to catch up. And then, as I am wont to do, I misread the above as "...incest and strawberries". Maybe I should just stay away.
ReplyDeleteOh, Jaded . . . you really haven't missed much.
ReplyDeleteIt's ok to misread...just don't turn it into a misdeed :-)
I fully concur Intelliwench but I challenge you to to order a vanilla bean frap from Starbuck's with a shot of peppermint. Beyond refreshing!
ReplyDeleteSounds...interesting, Heidi. Can I get that with chocolate, too?
ReplyDeleteI suppose I'm a bastard when it comes to Strawberries. I'm not a huge fan of them but I do love Strawberry flavoring, like for ice cream or shakes.
ReplyDeleteWell, mint and chocolate are OK, but I must say I prefer my mint in a Julip!
ReplyDeleteOh my heavens, that video is marvelously entertaining. They look like Renaissance Festival Performers from outer space!
ReplyDeleteBuck Rogers, Across the Sixteenth Century!
Also, Peppermint and Incense is decidedly less alluring than Peppermint and chocolate.
Pantsless - how about Strawberry blondes?
ReplyDeleteMr. C - I'll have to try one of those this summer!
LoS - I hope the psychedelic nehru look comes back in vogue. I'm kind of tired of all the black punk/grunge couture that's still, apparently, fashionable.
Stan and I normally like to get our strawberries locally. We are getting them from CA right now. They are very good, as you say above. The two places we get strawberries from locally are having problems with pollination this year, in part do to our dwindling honey bee population I'm sure. I'm still seeing some honeybees and bumbles, each day, but not in the numbers I'm used to.
