Wienerdog Wednesday, Pre-Raphaelite Edition

Via Dog ArtDog, Laura Sotka reinterprets the work of Frederic Leighton.

(A similar scene, single dachshund version, can be found at the intelli home on Sunday afternoons.)

  1. A similar scene can be found at my home most afternoons only with a terrier-wiener dog mix. Dogs are special.

  2. I'll assume your attire is somewhat different, too, Mr. C. And yes, we can learn a lot about how to live from our dogs.

  3. I don't have a dog. I live a cat's life. It's purrfect.

Incidentally, I am told Mr. C has that very dress, for special occasions.

  4. Cat people are slightly off kilter. But even two of those would not be enough for the desired body heat.

  5. jadedj - I used to be an avowed cat person. I still like those of the feline persuasion, but there's something about that unconditional doggy love that just tugs at my heart. And puppy eyes. Cat eyes just don't have the same effect.

wm - little dogs have pretty active metabolisms - you'd be surprised how many BTU's my wiener puts out.

  6. Until last Thanksgiving I had a black lab/doberman mix. For years he had a boxer brother. Lucky, the lab, slept in the crook of my legs and Hobo, the boxer, slept on the other side with his head on my shoulder. Great in the winter; not so great on those hot summer nights. I'd let them sleep on top of me, if only I could have them back.

  7. I know what you mean, tnlib. Scooter Pie shares my bed, and she was a very sick pup this weekend -- I was afraid she wouldn't be around to annoy and amuse me. But all is well now!

I suspect sooner or later a new dog will come along and claim your heart!

  8. Just saying "hey"
    I miss having a dog.

  9. I love that painting! I'd like to commission an artist to capture my joy when I'm laying in my own pile of mutts. God I love those bastards.

  10. Steph, thanks. It sounds like you've got some good canine companionship, there.
