Funky Friday, Yesterday & Tomorrow Edition

In observance of Thursday's St. Patrick's Day and Saturday's "Mega Moon" I wanted to post a video of Irish singer Van Morrison performing "Moondance." As iconic as this is however, video pickings on YouTube are very slim.

I was happy to find THIS very cool but un-embeddable video of an all-star jam of the song where Morrison is backed by Carlos Santana, George Benson, Dr. John, Tom Scott, and Etta-freakin James. Go watch it now, then come back and thank me. Go on.

So, what do you think: Is the Mega Moon going to wreak havoc across the planet? Will you go outside after dark and howl? Can I just have one more Moondance with you?

  1. Howl in the world did you find this?

Does this have anything to do with that almost ancient ritual of mooning?

    Yes, one more. And thanks.

  2. Isn't it cool, jj? I just wasn't going to settle for Michael Buble doing a cover of the song - persistence paid off! (There is a video of Morrison at Montreux doing a very anemic and almost robotic version of the song - don't bother watching that!)

I think the practice of mooning doesn't require an astronomical full moon - in fact, I have only personally seen it performed in full daylight. So the answer to your question number two is "no."

    Thank you. You're welcome.

  3. I can't watch it from my phone very well so I'll catch it from home. I'm sure it will put me over the moon.

  4. I found a crescent of time during laundry phase, so I could give it my full attention.

I give it two moons up!

  5. Loved the video.

Wreak havoc? Too late! I suppose "wreak calm" is an oxymoron, huh?
Oh, if only the sight of a large moon would do it! I could contribute...!

  6. Thanks for the great link and the reminder of the Mega Moon. Looks like a Drum Circle night.

  7. Doug, glad it made your day brighter!

Merrily - "wreak calm" is probably as likely as "peace breaking out," nevertheless I'm sure some judicious mooning can contribute to a better world!

Punch, it is prime Drum Circle weather!

And you thought...
