The two previous generations in my family (on both sides) produced about a half dozen veterans. One I never met, a cousin of my mom, didn't come back. I have been thinking of them today.
It always occurs to me that on this day, we pay homage to veterans, and then promptly brush it aside for 364 days...and nothing changes. Nothing changes because we are not really in control of our destiny, and we are going to continue to add to the long list of sacrifice.
"There are only two things we should fight for. One is the defense of our homes and the other is the Bill of Rights. War for any other reason is simply a racket." Nothing else needs be said.
