What I Think . . .

Journalspace is . . . back?

I'm not in so much of a hurry to repatriate. One thing that bothers me is the new administrators' feeble grasp of the English language. That in and of itself doesn't mean that the site was purchased by the Russian Mafia. But it doesn't mean that it wasn't, either.

As a former employee of a "Russian Gift Importer," I know how this works. The RM (Russian Mafia) provides funding for new companies, then uses the businesses as fronts for money laundering -- or worse. (I will tell you about the Boston Borscht Party one day.)

The "new" JS is pretty bare-bones, and although the new admin promises more features soon, I'm in no hurry to hand over any personal info -- or cash -- to these folks.

Das vedanya, JournalSpace.

  1. After posting that last comment, I signed in to the new JS and joined...without starting a new blog (at this point I'm leaning toward staying here). Then, after signing in, they really pissed me off...my real name was on display! Not my screen name...my real name. I am very careful on line about that. There are too many nuts out there one can tick off...so that is a bad policy...revealing one's real name on line. Needless to say, this is not impressive. If they can't keep that straight, then I simply can't trust them. I deleted my acccount. I am 99% sure I will not be going back.

  2. Good points. I can't believe they gave out JadedJ's real name. And I agree about the lack of knowledge of the english language. How hard is it to write out a correct sentence anyway. I tried to become a member, and create a blog, but never got an email back from them. So I can't sign in. Maybe that's a sign in itself. Noone

  3. I am learning Russian, and your use of the word for good bye makes my eyes tear up in joy. Just an fyi, because you seem like the type of person that would want to know this: whether you spell the Russian phonetically or in cyrillic characters the phrase is separated into "dah" and "sveedahnyah". :)

  4. Jaded & someone (or is that noone?) I could be completely off the mark, but I wonder at the motives for the buyers -- they didn't do it as a goodwill gesture! I am not going to pay to blog anymore, and I am happy not to have ads on my page -- especially ads over which I have no control!

Tuesday -- spasibo, dahlink! Oh, and Happy Old New Year, too :-)
